Arena of Champions is a browser arena fighter with Warcraft-flavored classes, not retail WoW and not an official Blizzard title. This guide covers what it is, the class list, brackets, and how to start on the official client. Checked November 2, 2026 (America/Los_Angeles).
The fan hub at arenaofchampions.net hosts guides and class data. It states it hosts no game files and points play/download traffic to arenaofchampions.live.
What Is Arena of Champions?
Arena of Champions is a short-match arena PvP game: pick a class and specialization, queue a bracket, and fight with interrupts, defensives, and line-of-sight. The hub describes it as an arena game rather than a full MMO questing world.
Familiar ability names do not guarantee retail WoW behavior. Rules, talents, and accounts are the game's own.
Price: free to play per the hub FAQ. Platforms listed: browser and Windows via the official entry screen.
Classes and Modes
Brackets: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3.
Classes / specializations (hub class table for the v0.23 client snapshot):
| Class | Specializations |
|---|---|
| Warrior | Arms, Fury |
| Mage | Fire, Frost |
| Priest | Discipline, Shadow |
| Rogue | Assassination, Subtlety |
| Hunter | Marksmanship, Beast Mastery |
| Paladin | Holy, Retribution |
| Warlock | Affliction, Demonology, Destruction |
| Druid | Restoration, Feral, Balance |
| Shaman | Restoration, Enhancement, Elemental |
That is 9 classes and 21 specs. Patch 0.23 ("Shards of Chaos") added Destruction Warlock among other tweaks, per the hub changelog.
Healing specs support partners; melee needs target access; ranged needs space. Start in bot practice before rated games.
How to Start Playing Arena of Champions
- Open the official client at arenaofchampions.live (URL given on arenaofchampions.net).
- Choose Play as Guest on the entry screen and wait for the town / client to finish loading.
- Pick a class, learn interrupt / defensive / escape binds, and fight bots first.
- Create a registered account when you want rated queues and leaderboard progress. Do not treat a guest session as a permanent backup.
- Optional Windows path: use Download for Windows on the same official entry screen if the site offers it. The hub verified the browser download path; treat any
.exelike any other unsigned indie client—only run what you trust.
Browser tips from the hub's download page: update the browser, keep hardware acceleration on, leave the tab active while the WebAssembly client loads, and read the client's own error text if WebGPU/graphics fail.
Mac and Chromebook: try the browser client; the hub has not verified every device. No separate Mac native installer was verified in that guide.
Arena of Champions vs World of Warcraft
- Not Blizzard's World of Warcraft and not sold on Battle.net as WoW.
- No claim of full retail arena parity. Talent trees and utilities are this game's systems.
- Separate from other browser WoW-likes the hub mentions (for example WebWoW). Use this game's own class pages and patch notes.
