Nintendo describes the game as rebuilt from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2 with overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue and symphonic orchestral music. Confirmed changes include:
- Jump and dash: Link can jump with a button press and dash across long distances.
- Threads of Time: a menu that recaps the story so far, shows your current objective and fills in a tapestry as you progress.
- Hum your ocarina songs: hum a song Link has learned into the Switch 2's built-in microphone and he plays it in the game.
- A living Hyrule: Nintendo says time now passes wherever you are, including in towns.
- Motion aiming: aim the slingshot, bow and other tools with motion controls.
VGC and Nintendo Life both report that some loading transitions remain, such as entering Hyrule Field, which Nintendo says preserves the feel of the original.
